Dixie Magneto Model 60 and 63 Catalog 1915

Here is a Splitdof catalog for the Dixie line that includes the model 60 for the 6 cylinder engines and the model 63 for the three cylinder engines. The Dixie and the Aero were notoriously wimpy and shared many of the same woes related to insulation failure, rotten pot metal, and edge gap issues. Sometimes one will appear with a good condenser, strong magnets, and a coil that tests good and hot but have subpar output. This issue can drive one looney but is usually traced back to improper edge gap caused by cam wear and/or breaker rubbing block wear.  Some models used a fiber cam that can wear asymetrically and/or distort causing a suboptimal edge gap. That is, the timing of the opening of the points vis a vis the position of the rotor that breaks the magnetic circuit. the service section describes this and how to check it with a feeler gage.
