K-W T TK TU TUK Magneto Manual Edition 6

Here is an early K-W instruction book edition 6 for the models T, TK, TU and TUK magnetos. These are the famous loaf of bread, potmetal beheamoth..etc.  Good words are patience and handle with care. The ends are thin potmetal and fragile as eggs. Be sure to mark the magnets before removing them to ensure that the north poles are all on one side and the south poles are on the other. It helps to remagnetize anytime the magnets are removed.

  There are not always witness marks on the timing gears or cam like this one so best to make notes before disassembly.

Evil lurks under the magnets. There is a paper and wax condenser (capacitor for the electrical engineering types) that is nearly always defective. We have never found a good one. Replace it with a modern automotive condenser and end all will be well. Be sure and get the magnets back in place as found and recharged on reassembly.

 Some early Holt crawlers used these lighting outfits probably to see what they are about to run over whilst roaring about in the dark.
