H1 Magneto RX

Here is some factory service information on the Wico model H. These were not very common but could occasionally be found on some early International model LA engines. When in repair they worked. They had issues with the stock condensers but can be retrofitted with modern devices. Very similar to its equally annoying cousin the LD. Hopefully this will help get yours back on line.

Always check the condenser for electrical leakage with an automotive condenser tester. Most digital meters cannot do this and this is the most common cause of condenser failure. If no leakage it should be about 0.2 Microfarads.

If there is electrical leakage, short or open the condenser is past its "Use by" date and needs to go. A 0.22 microfarad 400 volt "Orange Drop" works well.

It is cozy in there but will fit and result in a better condenser than it ever had and no more condenser trouble.
