GV-2Q for Caterpillar Pony Motors

Here is some factory information for the GV 2Q used on some of the very early Caterpillar Diesel tractor pony motors of the day. Like the other GV series, they were hot and reliable and subject to the usual bain of insulation seepage from the wound armature and sticky goo. Some were unusual in that they mounted upside down and used a packed ball bearing on the distributor rotor shaft in lieu of the usual sleeve bearing and a wick system for lubrication.
