K-W Low tension Magnetos catalog 19

Here is catalog 19 from the K-W Ignition Company for their low tension products which are largely  generators for lighting and ignition circuits. There is also some useful information in the familiar K-W buzz coils used on many early stationary engines.  These can be found at swapmeets occasionally and are desireable as they look like a classic old time wooden buzz coil and use the readily available points and condenser used by the Model T Ford.

The reason this K-W magneto will not charge a storage battery is that it is an alternator and puts out AC. It would need rectifier diodes to charge a storage battery like a modern alternator. The advantage is that there are no brushes or commutators.

Early Holt crawlers used these at times, probably to see what you are about to run over while roaring around in the dark.
