Ignition and Truck Profits

Here is an interesting and somewhat silly promotional brochure produced by some of the magneto manufacturers of the day, likely pre WW1. They tout the advantages of a magneto and the evils of the battery and coil system. rather silly because with a battery and coil system there is very likely a generator and electric starter in the picture. With the battery and coil system we get a hot spark at any speed and are spared from the famous "Armstrong" starting method that often resulted in some blisters and an occasional broken bone with magneto ignition. There were many battery/ coil manufacturers back in the day like Remy, Atwater-Kent, Chicago, Connecticut, Jefferson and K-W to name a few. When in repair they worked well.   An interesting read in any case. Enjoy!
